My wife, Judy....."will I need a hardhat!"

We could hear the chainsaws and other hikers were saying that a saw crew was cutting down dead trees near the trail.

Video of Judy on the Colorado trail, hiking through an area that was hit hard by the Pine-Beetle.  Some experts predict that 95% of the Lodge Pole pine trees in Summit County are dead or dying.
This area was closed the next day and hikers were being redirected on another trail.

SUMMIT COUNTYColo. (CBS4)- Hikers can expect some delays along a popular hiking trail in Summit County while crews cut down trees killed by the pine beetle.
The Colorado Trail winds through the mountains near Breckenridge. The goal is to cut down dead trees so they don’t fall on hikers.
The trail won’t be closed to hikers, but people may be forced to wait when loggers get close to the path.
Cutting down the trees also helps reduce the fire danger from beetle kill trees. The logging along the Colorado Trail will continue into September.
